U.S. Economy Added 263,000 Jobs in April

- May/2019

The U.S. economy added 263,000 jobs in April 2019, firmly beating analyst expectations of 190,000, according to May’s snapshot from the Department of Labor.

Additionally, the unemployment rate declined to 3.6 percent, the lowest level since 1969, and the average hourly wage was up 3.2% compared to a year ago.

Some of the strongest sectors for hiring included the construction industry, health care, commerce, IT and Engineering services.

Several demographic groups benefited from strong job gains in April. the jobless rate for adult women fell to 3.1%, the lowest level since 1953. The rate for Americans of Hispanic or Latino ethnicity dropped to 4.2% — the lowest level on records since 1973.

All these numbers prove that the United States continues to provide the greatest professional opportunities worldwide. With more open positions than people available to fill them, wages become higher, as companies compete for the best workers.
