The United States government has revoked its decision to suspend the visas of international students taking online-only classes.
The administration reversed course and announced it will return to the policy that was in effect in March 2020, which provided more flexibility for students enrolled in schools that switched to online courses.
This decision represents a victory for Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which along with other universities, teacher unions, and more than twenty American states, contested President Trump’s move.
The White House is now focused on having the rule apply only to new students, rather than students already present in the U.S.
